Covering Strength Training, Heart Rate Testing, Video Analysis and Injury Management - take your coaching to the next level.

This 7.5 CEU workshop is for New York coaches, both USAT certified coaches and those looking to advance their knowledge and prepare for USAT certification. The workshop will last all day, beginning at 9am.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

1. Strength Development for Multisport Events – this workshop will cover setting baselines, implementing a progressive strength building program and re-assessment.  The focus will be on injury avoidance and strength building.  There will be a 'hands on' (practical) session with is workshop.
Presenters:
Paul Frediani - Head Triathlon Coach (JCC). Certifications: USAT, USAC, ACE, ACSM.
Will Smith - Director of Education for Can Do Fitness Clubs (NJ). Certifications: USAT, MEPD, CSCS, USAW.

2. VO2 Max Testing and Heart Rate Training – this workshop will cover VO2 Max Testing procedures and how to use this information to setup effective training programs based on heart rate training zones.  We will cover the physiological benefits of the different training zones.
Presenter:
Josh Gold - Multisport Coach (Asphalt Green).  Certifications: USAT, USAC, with 10 years coaching experience, completed 7 Ironman including Kona World Championships.

3. Video and Movement Analysis of Swimming and Running – you will learn the current technology –software and hardware – used to analyze both swimming and running technique.  You will also learn the latest in stroke and running technique.  This session will be interactive, with time for questions and discussion.
Presenter: Neil L. Cook - Head Multisport coach and Program Manager (Asphalt Green).  Over 30 years of endurance sports, with close to 1,000 races.  Undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Physical Education, Coaching, Motor Learning and Neurophysiology.

4. Diagnosis and Management of Sports Injuries for Coaches – this workshop will help you identify and diagnosis sports injuries most common in triathlon.  Initial diagnosis, management, and who to refer your athlete to will also be covered.
Presenter: Dr. Jordan Metzl (Hospital for Special Surgery). Sports medicine columnist, completed 25 marathons and 5 time Ironman competitor.

9:00 am – Strength Development for Multi-sport Events (90 Minutes)

10:45 am – VO2 Max Testing and Heart Rate Training (90 minutes)

12:15 pm – Lunch Break (45 minutes)

1:00 pm - Video and Movement Analysis of Swimming and Running (3 hours)

3:15 pm - Diagnosis and Management of Sports Injuries for Coaches (90 minutes)
